Riding Onwards to the Stunning Village of Saumur France

Saumur France (also known to me as the beautiful village of umbrellas!)
Hi folks....

Hope your all well and managing to keep yourselves busy whilst the weather is cold and mainly miserable!

Brightening the mood and looking back over our last years trip certainly does help me to deal with the dark mornings and short evenings, and helps me to wait for the next season of Motogp and seeing whether Valentino Rossi will win his 10th championship!

Thanks for dropping by again.

Continuing our journey we leave Biarritz and travel further to eventually arrive at the stunning village of umbrellas otherwise known as Saumur.

Ready to go....

There are so many unbelievable buildings in France....

Just thinking aloud....

Whilst downloading the pictures there is one thing that I must learn to do on future tours....

And that is to make a point of taking far more pictures of signs!

I do take a few if I'm lucky enough to catch them whilst moving but I forget to take them when we stop for a break.

An example of the problems it causes me by not taking enough is as hubby isn't around at the moment (at work) I have found myself having to study my pictures to try to find out where the stops are located and where  the stunning village of umbrellas was in our trip.

I found myself asking google ridiculous questions such as where is the stunning village of umbrellas in France

I had to study my pictures for any clues, until firstly I found the shop name St Pierre Pharmacie and then Auberge St Pierre, once I had this info I was able to punch that into google and blow me if Saumur came up in the response which triggered my memory.

I really must learn to take pictures of road names when we stop, it would make my life far easier when I'm writing on my blog!

There are so many Churches and Cathedrals in France, it would be extremely difficult to choose a favourite....

Had to get this picture in, I only wish my allotment looked this neat!

Love the long wide roads with beautiful trees either side, and look, not a single car in sight!

The french houses are to die for in my eyes...

Brief stop to put leggings on, not sure if we're in for more rain....

Getting darker the further we ride!

And yes, good move putting our wets on, the heavens opened...

What a shame, this picture would have looked so different if the sun had been shining..

Caught Mike and Jackie at the traffic lights, smile.....

What a lovely smiley friend Jackie is, you would have thought the rain would be enough to have us ladies in tears but me and Jackie were loving every minute of the trip....

Bumped into another biker riding a Ducati, lucky him he was going down to the Pyrenees where we had already been...

Nice bike...

After a lot of rain we finally arrived at our overnight stop, my review I'll share with you in a later blog, however one thing I will say is it was nice to have a self service breakfast for a change....

I wonder what's behind the door...

Ah the garden area, very colorful shame it's raining!

As much coffee as I could drink...

And the bright clean atmosphere first thing in the morning was a pleasure!

plants looked stunning in the garden...

Hubby didn't look to bad either!

Hubby supporting Valentino Rossi with his brand new T-shirt on at breakfast....

So, we bumped into some English folk just as we were getting ready to leave who kindly took some rare pictures of all of us together and the bikes...

Thank you kindly to them...

The Suzuki Bandit and  Triumph look good together me thinks....

I'll touch on the parking facilities later....

Amazing, doesn't matter where you are in France there is always a Macky D to be seen....

After a brief check of the map we're off again...

The parking situation at this b&b left a lot to be desired, I'll explain to you more later....

Lovely sweeping roads...

The weather had settled a little and the sun started to warm me up nicely...

There they are again! Just can't seem to shake them off :)

We finally arrive at the stunning village of umbrellas known otherwise as Saumur....

I absolutely love this place, it's not hubby and mines first visit...

What a treat for us! The place was beautiful! Bright, colorful and I would even go as far to say that it had a romantic ambiance about it..

I hope Jackie and Mike enjoyed the visit as much as we did!

How lucky were we, during our trip this is the second surprise that we came across....

The cathedral was absolutely beautiful with the colorful brollies waving around in the sky!

Slightly disappointed that we were unable to get lunch but not really to bothered....

Although think we were all getting pretty tired so a spot of lunch may or may not of woken us all up.....

As Jackie and I decided to take a wander the Cathedral proved to be much bigger than we had originally thought....

Every corner we turned seemed to be a different angle of the cathedral to clap our eyes on....

We slowly walked up loads of steps to get a better view which I'm not kidding you was not easy as we both had our bikers leathers on, and if your a biker and your reading this will understand completely what a challenge climbing steep steps is in your leathers!

It had to be done though to get the full picture of this lovely building...

I only wish we had time, time always seemed to be against us!

At this point of our trip it has started to dawn on me that we will soon be going home.

As much as I love England I am also having a love affair with France, one that as yet has not come to fruition if you get my meaning!

Hubby knows how I get when it's time to go home, I think maybe I should pre warn him in future as the feelings for this country are getting more intense after each trip.

Next up from Saumur to Vaas and then finally on to Le Mans before riding back to Caen.

Thanks for continuing to read our story, I hope that it has inspired you to get on your bikes and tour France and Spain.

I have so many other memories of touring trips to share with you all, but that's for another day.

Don't forget to click follow and share, until next time.

Ride safe my friends and followers...

Raising our glasses to another great day on our tour of France and down into
Broto, Spain
